I am waiting patiently to see if Alienware can bring their gaming cred to the HTPC market. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of details about it yet but all signs indicate that it will contain a dual core AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual-core processor with a 100 watt amplifier and 5.1 channel audio. I would also expect to see an HDD in the 160GB range.

I would expect prices to start in the $1000 range, which is definitely not cheap, but I would hope to see the same level of excellence in this media center as I do in their high end gaming rigs. If you want quality, you have to pay for it. Other than that, I don’t know what innovation they may bring to the table.  Can not wait to try this one out.  Needing a replacement for my current JVC entertainment center.

The Alienware Hangar 18 HTPC is expected to be available sometime in Q2 of 2007
